I took dinner to a friend recently, who had been extremely busy working toward her PHD. I served these wonderful, tasty figs as an appetizer, but they would also be lovely as a dessert.
HONEY BROILED FIGS WITH RICOTTA
1 cup ricotta
2 tablespoons honey, plus more for drizzling
12 fresh figs, halved
Heat broiler and position a rack 6 inches from the heat. In a food processor, combine the ricotta with the 2 tablespoons of honey and puree until very smooth (or stir together in a bowl until combined).
Arrange the figs cut side up on a rimmed baking sheet. Dollop 2 teaspoons of the ricotta puree on each fig and lightly drizzle with honey. Broil for about 2 minutes, until just browned in spots and the ricotta is barely melted, serve warm or at room temperature.
