I was thrilled and delighted to learn about The Bentonville Sessions  (bentonvillesessions.com/) and Feed Their Tummies (www.feedtheirtummies.org/), and to meet the incredible people behind these organizations, and hear how they are gently changing the world.

The Bentonville Sessions were started by JD Byrum, in an effort to bring live music to downtown Bentonville. There is a strong emphasis on local artists, and each month the members meet in a private home. Complimentary beverages are available courtesy of “Guess Who?, food is provided and music is appreciated.

Although memberships are full this year, anyone is welcome to join the fun and enjoy the fabulous entertainment each month for a small fee. All proceeds from this fantastic concert series are donated to an amazing and inspiring non-profit.

Jenny Marrs, who along with her husband Dave, created Feed Their Tummies, based on the belief that no child should go hungry. It was a heartfelt and critical response to an essential need they saw at the orphanage where their young daughter spent the first 18 months of her life. Efforts are currently focused on feeding 200 orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in the Democrat Republic of Congo. The children there were given just one meal a day and as a result, were not receiving adequate nutrition. However, since Feed Their Tummies has been involved, they have consistently provided three meals each day for each child, which allows resources to be freed for other causes, further improving the childrens lives.

Jenny, who is just absolutely beautiful inside and out, extended an invitation to the Arkansas Women Bloggers to attend The Bentonville Sessions and an evening with Penny and Sparrow. This is one of the warmest, most welcoming group of people I have had the opportunity to mingle with. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Members Only hour at Jakes Place, before walking the short distance to 21C, for a quick but exquisite cheese plate, glass of wine and conversation and connection with an enthusiastic, fascinating and fabulous group of blogging ladies.

Then we had the surreal experience of seeing and hearing Penny and Sparrow play live in the Ballroom at 21C in Bentonville, one of many stops on their nationwide tour. The soulful sound was accompanied by light appetizers and a signature cocktail.

Truly – listening to and showing an appreciation for music each month helps fill many tummies. It was such a fabulous evening for so many reasons – and I left with great excitement that The Sessions will be accessible in Fayetteville, starting THIS Thursday!
