We go to the horse races at Oaklawn annually, and over the years have experienced many of the attractions Hot Springs has to offer – the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo, Bathouse Row, Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum, the Mountain Tower, the Duck Tours and The Mid-America Science Museum, as well as the many great Antique Shops and Flea Markets.

It so happened that I was in Hot Springs several times over the summer – a quick visit after dropping my son at camp, briefly meeting friends at a favorite restaurant before making our way to the lake, and most recently for the Arkansas Women Bloggers Conference.

I am very fond of this Spa City, with its rich and colorful history, and on one visit, took Mum and my Aunt to the gorgeous Garvan Woodland Gardens, the Botanical Garden of the University of Arkansas, where they are preserving and enhancing a unique part of our beautiful State. A gift from a local philanthropist, the gardens are nestled in the Ouachita mountains, along the shores of Lake Hamilton, and the fantastic paths make seeing this wonderful example of our Natural State very pleasant and easy.
