I am slowly overcoming my fear of getting involved with a recipe that includes yeast, and am discovering how easy it is to bake bread from scratch. I appreciate the simplicity and integrity of the ingredients and the satisfaction that comes from perseverance and commitment, and putting fresh, hot, delicious rolls on the table to the delight of my family!
30 MINUTE ROLLS
1 cup PLUS 2 tablespoons warm water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 1/2 cups flour
Heat oven to 400F.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the water, oil, yeast and sugar and allow it to sit for 15 minutes. Using dough hook, mix in the salt, egg and flour.
Knead with hook until well incorporated and dough is soft and smooth – a few minutes.
Form dough into 12 balls and then place in a greased 9-by-13 inch baking pan and let rest for 10 minutes. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
